The Society has a committed Trustee Board of 5 highly experienced individuals.
Kay Forrest, Chair, is a retired nurse that worked for the NHS for 40 years. Kay was heavily
involved in the Coventry Irish Festival until its closure in 2008. Kay has been the lead
Organiser of the Coventry St. Patrick’s Festival since 2003 and has huge experience as a
Society Trustee from 2001-2017.
Jo Addleton, Treasurer is a retired business woman running a successful small business
in Coventry for many years. A Trustee since 2012 Jo is actively involved in the business
planning and future development of the Society.
Kate McCarthy, Secretary, is a senior Social Work Manager with Warwickshire Social Services.
Kate Was CIS Chair for 8 years until 2015 and hence brings great voluntary sector experience.
Kate is noted for her communication and public speaking skills and is hugely positive about her
Rory Ryan, Trustee, is a regional manager for a large utilities company. Rory is 27 and 3rd
Generation Irish. He is proud of his roots and was one of the two key organisers of our recent
successful Summer Ball. Rory is determined to bring the younger generations into the
involvement of the Society.
Elizabeth Flannelly, Trustee, is a successful business woman and owner of ‘Flannelly’s
Irish Club’. Elizabeth was the co-lead on our recent Summer Ball and supports the Society’s
events bringing great experience to the Charity.
Simon McCarthy CEO is a welfare graduate with 25-years experience in Social Welfare including
Social Services, Education and 15 years with the Coventry Irish Society. Prior to his management
role Simon supported 350 Irish Survivors to access compensation from the Irish Redress Board.
Ann Sullivan, Health Worker is a retired Social Worker with over 40-years experience working
with older people. Ann has been involved with the Society for many years as a member,
volunteer and paid worker. Ann organises the weekly befriending group ‘The Claddagh Group’
with 61 members.
Dawn Lucas, Health, is a qualified Lecturer practising part time. Dawn has extensive experience
in Education including working with children with learning disabilities in a residential setting.
working part time for the Society since 2013 Dawn has developed excellent case work knowledge
and regularly deals with complex cases.
Ciaran Davis, Oral History Project, is a recent MSc History graduate from Oxford. Ciaran is our
Oral History Project Officer and is Interviewing 50 Irish men and women that came to Coventry
from 1940-1970. The interviews will be used to create a 20-minute film and be part of a high
profile exhibition at the Herbert Art Gallery in March 2018. ‘Irish Heart, Coventry Home’
will document the contribution of the Irish community to Coventry.
Win McGlynn, Welfare, Win has been with the Irish Society since 2007, she is hugely effective
with the client group and has extensive knowledge of the needs of the Society’s clients.
Win is committed to providing services to the most vulnerable Irish.
Zaneta Juszczak, Administrator, Zaneta is a recent Business Psychology MSc Graduate
from Coventry University. Zaneta handles the Society’s financial and database systems.
A keen photographer Zaneta has compiled an archive of photographs of the Society’s events
using our newsletter and social media platforms to promote the Society.
